    The lift system developed by

    Gerard “Gerry” Hungerford

for mobile and manufactured homes is known as the Phoenix Lift. This system was designed by Hungerford, owner of Texas-based GH Lifts, to provide a safer and more efficient alternative to using cranes for elevating homes in tight spaces or flood zones.

    The Phoenix Lift System

The Phoenix Lift is a patented “all-new type of mover” specifically engineered for siting manufactured homes in areas with restrictive zoning or heightened flood elevation requirements.

    • Lifting Mechanism: It uses an electric-over-hydraulic system to lift the home while it is secured on a series of I-beams.
    • Capabilities: The system can raise homes as high as 10 feet to meet city-mandated base flood elevations. According to Hungerford, it typically handles elevations averaging 7 to 8 feet.
    • Design Integration: The lift was developed in collaboration with Trans Lift (an Alabama-based company) and is added onto a Trans Lift unit to achieve its specialized lifting capabilities.
    • Efficiency: Experts at Trans Lift note that the system is “very precise and very safe,” allowing teams to move and set up multiple home sections in a single day—significantly faster than the setup time required for a crane.

    Key Benefits
    • Reduced Footprint: Unlike cranes, which require a large area for setup and delivery, the Phoenix Lift reduces the footprint required to site a home, making it ideal for mobile home parks.
    • Workplace Safety: The system is designed to keep workers from having to be under a home while it is elevated several feet above the ground.
    • Compliance: It solves the problem of placing homes in areas where local laws prohibit the use of heavy cranes.

    Related Technology
    • Trans Lift / RemoteTrax: While the Phoenix Lift is a specialized add-on, it operates in conjunction with Trans Lift equipment, such as the RemoteTrax, a remote-controlled diesel-powered vehicle used to position mobile homes.

The Phoenix Lift is currently marketed for professional home movers and community operators looking to increase efficiency and safety during high-elevation installs.
